Rankin is one of those photographers with whom people seem to have a love hate relationship. While perhaps not always liking his pictures or his choice of project I have always admired his work ethic, ambition, eclectic style and prodigious self promotional talents.
Well for his latest endeavor Rankin has turned his lens to recreating the seven (in his opinion) photographs that changed fashion and brought a camera crew along to film the process. BBC 4 has long been a bastion of photography on the box. Unfortunately their fine work isn’t always so accessible here. Their Genius of Photography series eventually made it this side of the Atlantic to the Ovation Network a year after its initial airing in the UK. But not to worry Rankins one hour documentary is available on YouTube and has been abridged to a very viewable eight parts for the web which are available for your instant pleasure below.
